Prior to 1945, the company also engaged in the production of aero engines. BMW is an acronym for Bayerische Motoren Werke in German, translated from Bavarian Motor Works in English.
BMW vehicles are marketed under the brands BMW M (performance models), BMW i (plug-in electric cars), Mini and Rolls-Royce as well as BMW Motorrad (Motorcycles). The German corporation produces vehicles in plants located in Germany, Brazil, China, India, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States.
BMW E30: About the Model
The BMW E30 is a Compact executive car which was initially introduced in 1982 (as a 1983 model). Manufacturing of the E30 continued until 1994. The E30 until its discontinuation was manufactured in two-door sedan, four-door sedan, convertible and wagon/estate body styles. The E30 was the first in the three series line to come in four-door sedan and wagon models. The E30 was also the first in the three series line to come with a diesel engine option.
The BMW Z1 roadster and the BMW M3 were based on the E30 platform.
